You Mental Load Called — It Wants a Raise

Counseling for working moms who want to feel like themselves again—preferably before their next meeting.

You’re Doing Two Full‑Time Jobs and Getting Paid for One

Working motherhood is basically a masterclass in doing too much with too little time, too little sleep, and too little credit. You’re managing schedules, crises, emotions, and expectations like it’s your side hustle—except it’s not a side hustle, it’s your whole life. At Silver Compass Therapy, support for working moms is designed for the ones who are burnt out, overwhelmed, and one group‑chat rant away from losing it. Therapy gives you a place to drop the mental load, talk honestly about what’s draining you, and figure out how to reclaim some part of yourself that isn’t fueled solely by caffeine and obligation.

You Know the “Girl’s Girl” Archetype — Liz Is the Mom’s Mom Version

Life after having a baby can feel different than you expected. Even when things are going “fine,” the emotional, physical, and relational shifts can be overwhelming. We offer counseling that supports the full range of experiences new and experienced mothers face — postpartum depression, postpartum anxiety, intrusive thoughts, identity changes, relationship strain, and the quiet moments of uncertainty that often go unnamed.

Postpartum therapy is a place to slow down and make sense of what’s happening beneath the surface. Some women come in because they’re struggling; others come in because they feel disconnected, overstimulated, or unsure how to balance who they were with who they’re becoming. Whatever brings you here, we’ll provide steady support as you navigate the early months and years of motherhood.

Working and raising a family is the hardest thing you’ll ever do.

Sleep deprivation, hormones, physical recovery, relationships, identity, and the constant demands of caring for a newborn can leave you feeling exhausted. Our approach blends clinical expertise with grounded, compassionate care, helping you understand your emotions, strengthen coping skills, and reconnect with yourself in a season that can feel both beautiful and confusing.

Our work is guided by four values that shape every session:

  • Understanding the emotional and relational context behind each woman’s experience

  • Education that reduces uncertainty and supports informed choices

  • Partnership that centers you as the expert on your own life

  • Perseverance that honors the resilience required to navigate early parenthood

What support for working moms entails

  • Comprehensive assessment of your life including stressors, supports, and needed changes.

  • Sessions tailored to your needs, including goals and duration

  • Back up for feelings of anxiety, sadness, guilt, and role conflicts

  • Guidance for navigating relationships— including how to tell your boss “no”

  • Personalized strategies to improve managing the mental load

  • Guidance for navigating workplace expectations without sacrificing your sanity

  • Support in family planning, career decisions, and identity shifts

  • Tools for handling the pressure to “do it all” when you’re already doing more than enough.

  • Evidence‑based treatment for anxiety, depression, OCD, and postpartum‑related stress— should we agree a diagnosis is appropriate.

Silver Compass Therapy helps working moms stop running on burnout, guilt, and caffeine alone. If you’re ready for support that gets the reality of your day‑to‑day, reach out and let’s start dismantling the overwhelm.

Private counseling that fits your life

Silver Compass Therapy specializes in postpartum and maternal mental health, offering support that extends well beyond the early weeks after birth. Our work is rooted in evidence‑based approaches for postpartum anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, and the ongoing emotional shifts that accompany motherhood. This includes understanding the physical recovery, identity changes, sleep disruption, and relational strain that can surface at any point in the parenting journey. Care is shaped by clinical expertise and lived experience, creating a space where mothers feel at home—whether they are newly postpartum or navigating the evolving demands of raising a growing child.

  • Therapy That Honors Identity and Context

Postpartum is a time when identity, relationships, responsibilities, and daily rhythms can shift rapidly. Therapy considers the full context of new motherhood—your role as a parent, the demands of caring for a newborn, older children, changes in relationships, and the emotional landscape that emerges after birth. You are supported as a whole person, not reduced to symptoms or a diagnosis.

  • A Collaborative, Steady Therapeutic Partnership

This time in life can feel overwhelming, isolating, or disorienting. Our approach centers on collaboration and steadiness, offering a space where you can slow down, sort through what’s happening, and feel supported in real time. Sessions are shaped around your lived experience, with the understanding that you are the expert on your own life.

  • Flexible Access Through Online Therapy

Sessions are on a HIPPA compliant platform accessible in Massachusetts- making specialized maternal mental health care accessible from home. This flexibility reduces barriers such as feeding schedules, physical recovery, childcare, transportation, and emotional overwhelm. We provide consistent support while you remain in the comfort of your own home.

How Postpartum
Counseling Supports Your Adjustment to Motherhood

Clarity during an overwhelming transition

Postpartum counseling helps you make sense of the emotional shifts that follow birth including the unexpected waves of sadness or irritability. Therapy offers a steady place to sort through what feels confusing, heavy, or out of character.

Support for rebuilding your sense of self

Life with a baby can leave you feeling unfamiliar to yourself. Counseling helps you explore identity and physical changes, understand the impact of hormonal and lifestyle shifts, and reconnect with parts of yourself that may feel lost or muted in early motherhood.

Strengthened connection within your closest relationships

The postpartum period can strain communication, intimacy, and shared expectations. Therapy helps you navigate new dynamics with partners, family, and support systems so you feel more understood, supported, and aligned as you move through early parenthood together.

When Postpartum Connects to What Came Before

Many women find that postpartum feelings are influenced by earlier chapters of their reproductive journey, including the tone of pregnancy or the impact of miscarriage or other loss. If connecting these pieces feels helpful, you can revisit the sections on pregnancy or reproductive loss to better understand how earlier experiences may be shaping your postpartum emotions.
